Answering God's Questions

June 24th, 2007

Confession

I am who God says I am in His Word.
I have what God says I have;
I can be what God says I can be;
I can do what God says I can do.

All authority in heaven and on earth
Has been given to Jesus.
I have been given Jesus' authority.

I have the authority to resist the devil
because Jesus completely defeated him through the cross.

I have been given the right to win over the devil every day!

Satan and his demons are under my feet.
I resist the devil and he runs from me!

The devil is afraid of me because I walk in Jesus' authority.

Genesis 3:9

Answering God's Questions       Trinity A/G  6-24-07

MAIN THOUGHT: Every person can assess his/her journey in life by answering God's questions.

Genesis 3:8 NIV "Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.
9  But the Lord God called to the man,  'Where are you?'
10  He answered, 'I heard You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.'"

This verse brings to light a number of facts about God:

-- God is always the pursuer in relationships with man.
God sought you out and reached out to you.
                        You did not "find" God.

-- God asks questions not for His benefit, but for ours.

-- God desires to restore our relationship with Himself.

-- God asks questions to move us from where we are to where He desires us to be.

Where are you?  (in relation to where He wants you to be)

___ lost

___ side-tracked

 ___ detoured

 ___ stuck

___ far away from your destination

___ on course

How do I even know where I am?

searching Scripture

asking God
listening to the Holy Spirit
going back to the dream God placed in your heart

hearing about how God led other Christians

Questions You Can Ask to Help You Find Where You Are

-- Have I invited Jesus into my life?

-- Do I have assurance that I am born again, a child of God?

-- Have I been filled with the Holy Spirit and am I staying filled?

-- Do I have a sense of where God wants me to go and what He want me to do?

-- Am I aware of the Holy Spirit's presence in my life each day?  (talking to God, bringing your cares, praising)

-- Do I have a circle of Christian friends that can help me get  and stay on course?

-- Am I depending more on God today than a year ago - or depending more on myself?

-- Am I growing up in the things of God?

            putting off sinful habits

becoming more Christ-like (fruit of the Holy Spirit)

Is more of my will and emotions surrendered to God?

Do I love more the people God has put in my life?

            hungering for God's Word

desiring to be in God's Presence

            enjoying relationships with other believers

            actively sharing my faith

            giving to others

caring less of what others think about me (people-pleaser)

Do I care more of what God thinks of me & my life?

Am I really desiring and taking steps to do God's will?

Do I have more faith today than a year ago?

Do I obey God more quickly when He speaks to me?

Have I learned to be at rest and enjoy life?

Do others (Christian & non) like being around me?

            Am I "more free"?

            Can I be trusted?
