God's Fullness in my Life!

July 17th , 2007

Confession

I am who God says I am in His Word.
I have what God says I have;
I can be what God says I can be;
I can do what God says I can do.

All authority in heaven and on earth
Has been given to Jesus.
I have been given Jesus' authority.

I have the authority to resist the devil
because Jesus completely defeated him through the cross.

I have been given the right to win over the devil every day!

Satan and his demons are under my feet.
I resist the devil and he runs from me!

The devil is afraid of me because I walk in Jesus' authority.

Trinity A/G  7-15-07

MAIN THOUGHT: Every believer can claim the promise of God's fullness by accepting the ways God has provided.

The Colossian church was only three to four years old when Paul wrote this letter to them.  By this time the people in the church had been infiltrated by all kinds of strange teachings that were contrary to the gospel Paul had imparted to them.  The Gnostics, one group who tried to fit the true gospel into their belief system they had constructed, were making the reality and person of Jesus so complex and difficult that people were really confused.

Jesus Is The Fullness!
Colossians 2:9 NIV "For IN CHRIST all the FULLNESS of the Deity [NKJ - Godhead] lives in bodily form,"

This verse "refers to Christ as the full expression of God in the world...Christ is the fullness and total expression of God!"

Ephesians 1:22-23 NIV "the church...which is His body, the fullness of Him Who fills everything in every way."

Ephesians 4:10  Jesus fills the whole universe!

("He's got the whole world in His hands..." takes on a whole new meaning!)

This is Not pantheism - everything is God - rock, tree, river, sky, sun, you

Believers Receive Fullness In Christ.

Colossians 2:10 NIV "and you have been given FULLNESS IN CHRIST, Who is the head over every power and authority."

Colossians 2:10 Living Bible "so you have everything when you have Christ, and you are filled with God through your union with Christ."

Amplified Bible "And you are in Him, made full and having come to fullness of life [in Christ you too are filled with the Godhead -- Father, Son and Holy Spirit -- and reach full spiritual stature].  And He is the Head of all rule and authority [of every angelic principality and power]."
Phillips "Your own completeness is only realised in Him."

fullness
-- "attaining a standard of measurement - passing grade, maturity

-- reaching a saturation point - sponge immersed in water

-- totality or fullness is always present - pouring a glass of water - overflowing

-- the word means to fill something completely - always with a strong element of exclusiveness or totality - "possessed by God"

-- When a person is filled with the Holy Spirit...he is completely controlled by the indwelling power... not as a robot, but thoroughly influenced

-- This fullness shapes their entire way of living." - If this fullness of God does not change your life, then you are not filled!!
                                                                                                 ("The Complete Biblical Library,")

John 1:16 NIV "From the fullness of His grace we have all received one blessing after another." Col. 1:9; 1:28; 4:12; Eph. 3:19; 5:18

Note in Colossians 2:1-20 the 15 times that the phrases
           in /on /with /from /of /by  and  Christ / Him / Whom  are found.

Colossians 2:1 NIV "I want you to know how much I am struggling for you and for those at Laodicea, and for all who have not met me personally.
2  My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ,
in Whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
4  I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments.
5  For though I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit and delight to see how orderly you are and how firm your faith in Christ is.
6  So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in Him,
7  rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
8  See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.
9  For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form,
10  and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority.
11  In Him you were also circumcised, in the putting off of the sinful nature, not with a circumcision done by the hands of men but with the circumcision done by Christ,
12  having been buried with Him in baptism and raised with Him through your faith in the power of God, who raised Him from the dead.
13  When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ.  He forgave us all our sins,
14  having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; He took it away, nailing it to the cross.
15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.
16 Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day.
17 These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.
18 Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you for the prize.  Such a person goes into great detail about what he has seen, and his unspiritual mind puffs him up with idle notions.
19 He has lost connection with the Head, from Whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow.
20 Since you died with Christ to the basic principles of this world, why, as though you still belonged to it, do you submit to its rules:"

How Do I Live in God's Fullness?

Receive Christ Jesus as Lord.  (Colossians 2:6-7)
-- Continue to live in Him
    -- rooted in Christ
    -- built up in Jesus
-- strengthened in the faith (as you were taught)

    -- overflowing with thankfulness

Ask for God's fullness! (full maturity, godly character, overflowing
presence of the Holy Spirit & the abundant blessings of God on your life)

Read the Bible & be convinced this is God's will for your life.

Expect it! (Have faith for God's fullness.)

Confess it:  "HEALING,  WHOLENESS,  FULLNESS"

Confess who you are in Jesus Christ, Who your Father is, and Who is your Helper  (The Holy Spirit)!!

Thank the Lord for His fullness!  Praise God that He is extravagant in His giving!

Get rid of the "poor me" mentality.

Make plans to receive God's fullness.

Adjust your thinking and actions to line up with God's desires for you.

Start giving immediately!
Malachi 3:10 NIV "'Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house.  Test Me in this,' says the Lord Almighty, 'and see if I will not throw open the
floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.'"

Walk in righteousness!

Be obedient to the Holy Spirit.

Walk in the spirit, not in the natural.
